Rain water harvesting Projects

 

Even while people were merely discussing the benefits of the Rain Water Harvesting Project, the Seva Bharathi workers had translated it into a reality at Olavanna Panchayat, near the Calicut City Corporation. The rain water from the rooftops is collected in a Ferro-cement tank and purified into drinking water. The scheme could to a large extent solve the water scarcity in the locality.


Trauma Care

During  the tragic Kadalundi Train accident, Seva Bharathi Volunteers had played a leading role in rescuing those who were trapped in the train compartments that plunged into the river, and also those who were brought to Kozhikode Medical College for treatment. More than 150 volunteers, including experts, played a significant role in the above effort, under the guidance of Seva Bharathi, Kozhikode.

An information centre was set up at Kozhikode Medical College for providing information to the relatives of those who were killed and injured in Kottakkal Bus accident

 

Other Activities

School uniforms were distributed among 200 students with the co-operation of Bharat Vikas Parishad at Pantheerankave, Kozhikode. 'Onam Festival Kits' comprising 5kg. of rice each were distributed among 45 needy families residing at Thondayad settlement colony.

A bright student who had lost his father, studying at the Pantheerankave school, was adopted by the Seva Bharathi and his educational expenses would be met by the organization.
